Crash Team Racing Adds Real Money Microtransactions With Next Update

Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled is a racing game with a lot to do in it, including unlocking customization options for various cosmetic items like skins, items, and even characters. Since release, the game has kind of doled these coins out somewhat thriftily to players who might be looking to unlock everything or are trying to go for something in specific. It turns out there might be a reason why: Wumpa coins will soon act as a virtual currency that can be purchased with real money.

At least, according to this new Activision blog post. As part of the game’s grand prix, which is by the way also introducing a lot of things to spend Wumpa coins on, the currency can now be purchased from the console stores in bundles. To be clear, this does not mean the old way is going away. Players can still earn coins through gameplay and it does not appear to be adjusted or changed in any way.

The update will bring in new character Baby T., a new course called Prehistoric Playground, and a lot of new items. That’s a lot of things to earn and a lot of time spent getting them. Good thing they’re giving you an out to just get it straight away.
